Hi,
Just to recap how a straight of x = a or y = a (where a is an integer) looks like on the graph.
For the graph of x = a, it is a vertical straight line parallel to the y-axis cutting the x-axis at point 'a'. For e.g. x = -1, it is a vertical straight line cutting x at -1.
For the graph of
y = b, it is a
horizontal straight line parallel to the x-axis cutting the y-axis at point 'b'. For e.g.
y = -2, it is a horizontal straight line cutting y at -2.
From the graph, answer these questions to test your understanding.
(i) Find the coordinates of the point where the two lines cut.
(ii) Draw a line of y = 3 and x = 5 on the graph.
(iii) Given that 1 unit represent 2 cm, find the area of the rectangle enclosed by these 4 lines.
Hi,
There are still some who are confused between coordinates that lie on the x and y axis. For e.g. (0,3) and (3,0).
The first thing you must know is the order in which a coordinate is written/read.
A coordinate is read/written as
( x-value, y-value ). For instance (1,3). The '1' is read from the x axis and '3' from the y axis.
In the case of (3,0), '3' is taken from the x-axis and '0' from the y-axis. Since it is a '0' on the y, we simply mark the coordinate (3,0) on the '3' at the x-axis.

Hi,
MYE is just round the corner. Hope that you are doing well with your maths revision.
Here's some tips to do well in the exam.
1) Consistent Practice - make sure you go through the last two worksheets that I gave you.. I guess the number is worksheet #55 and #56.
2) Go through all my worksheets again..
3) Sleep well and drink more water.
4) Enjoy doing all sums. Make it a point to conquer any challenges that you face in working out any maths problems. DO NOT LET THE SUBJECT CONQUER YOU....
5) Don't forget the 3 special products and learn how to apply them in expansion and factorisation of expressions.
6) Put a bracket on expression with more than two terms.. For e.g. x + 4 = (x + 4).7) When you distribute a '-' sign integer into expression in a bracket, all signs of each term within the brackets change. For e.g. -2 ( x - 2y + z) = -2x + 4y - 2z8) When you bring out a '-' sign from a bracket, all signs within the bracket changes.
For e.g. -3x + 4y - 5z = -(3x - 4y + 5z)
